Liverpool are wasting no time in backing Arne Slot’s vision, with their characteristic urgency now seeping into transfer business as much as it did their title-winning campaign. Even before the summer window officially opens, there is a sense of clear direction and elite mentality as the Reds push to reinforce a squad that strolled to Premier League glory with four games to spare.
Slot’s arrival marks a new chapter, but there is a deliberate effort to maintain the standards that have driven Liverpool to the top. And with the Dutchman already plotting next season’s preparations, moves are well underway to fine-tune a group capable of sustaining domestic dominance and competing in Europe.

Liverpool are close to sealing a £30million deal for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, a signing that would bring pace, energy and technical quality to an area of the pitch ripe for evolution. Talks are also ongoing for Leverkusen’s £125m-rated star Florian Wirtz, whose creativity and attacking threat would offer another dimension to Slot’s blueprint.
The club are also frontrunners for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with a £40m fee understood to be under consideration. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will finally arrive from Valencia following an agreement struck last summer for £30m.
With Liverpool players set to report back to Kirkby’s AXA Training Centre in mid-July, Slot is determined to avoid the early-season pitfalls he experienced at Feyenoord.
“You cannot compare Feyenoord with Liverpool, but we dropped points in the first two games because Feyenoord is different to Liverpool, in a different stage of the pyramid,” said Slot.
“We had to sell our best players at that moment and it took quite a long time before we got new ones because Feyenoord was in a much more financial difficult position than Liverpool is now.
“So our squad wasn’t ready in the first game of the season. I got the players in late, so we dropped points in the first two games, but that had nothing to do with the mentality, but more with us not being ready for the start of the season because of financial reasons. That will be different now.”
Slot’s reflections reveal an obsession with readiness and structure. This summer is not about starting over, it is about raising the bar. The early transfer moves signal a club that is not merely resting on its title-winning success but is committed to embedding an elite mentality across every department. The message is unmistakable: Liverpool are moving forward with intent.
