Liverpool transfer bombshell: Mo Salah 'accepted' Saudi move | OneFootball

The future of Mohamed Salah will again be one of the major topics of speculation as Liverpool prepare for a huge summer transfer window.

The Reds are set for major change in the coming weeks already, with the departure of manager Jurgen Klopp along with the arrival of a new backroom setup masterminded by the returning Michael Edwards.

Salah is about to head into the final year of his current contract on Merseyside, and has long been linked with a move to the big-money Saudi Pro League, and Al-Ittihad in particular.

Those links are likely to resurface again during the coming weeks, with the Reds facing the difficult decision of whether to cash in on their long-time talisman.

According to fresh claims from Saudi, the Egyptian king has already come close to leaving Anfield for the Gulf state once, with only a last-minute change of heart from the Reds changing history.

The claims come from Turki Alalshikh, who has found worldwide fame in recent months as the man leading the enormous Saudi investment into boxing. Along with several other sports.

Turki Alalshikh on Salah

Alalshikh spoke this week to big-name MMA and boxing writer Ariel Helwani on his 'MMA Hour' podcast, and was asked if Salah would be moving to the Middle East this summer. His response was illuminating.

"I don't have information [this year], but I have information last year. He was accept, but Liverpool change their mind in the last second. He was accept and I think this is one of the problem what he have in this year with his team."

Salah's form has been the subject of much debate in recent months as Liverpool's bid for a quadruple to end the Klopp era faltered in the closing stages. Despite that he has still produced 18 goals and 10 assists in 10 Premier League starts in 2023-24.

Salah, who turns 32 in June, is currently valued at just over £45million by eTV (estimated Transfer Value), with that factoring in his expiring contract in the summer of 2025. If the Saudis do swoop again though, expect them to pony up a hefty premium on top.
