According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have made an approach to Newcastle United to discuss a ‘record bid’ for Swedish striker Alexander Isak (25). The Reds will reportedly turn their attention to the race for Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike (23) if they cannot progress with their bid for Isak.Yet, the twist is that Newcastle are also pursuing a deal for the France U21 international, according to yesterday’s report by The Athletic. Talks are reportedly underway between the two clubs over a €75m deal for the Frenchman. This is following Chelsea and Manchester United’s previous interest in the player.After a failed stint with Paris Saint-Germain, Ekitike has reinvented himself in the Bundesliga with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches during the 2024-2025 season.
