Liverpool will be looking to book their place in the Champions League quarter-finals when they host PSG in the second leg of their round-of-16 tie on Tuesday, 11th March, at 8pm (UK time).
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Elliott, Diaz; Jota.
The Reds had to endure huge pressure in Paris in the first leg, with PSG outshooting them 27-2 to the tune of 1.78 to 0.27 on the xG stakes. However, Arne Slot’s men rode the storm and struck in the 87th minute through Harvey Elliott, who has handed Liverpool a priceless 1-0 lead to defend at Anfield, where they are formidable.

In terms of injuries, things are pretty straightforward for Liverpool. Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are both out, with the latter expected to return just after the international break. Gomez has a little longer to wait, having undergone surgery on a hamstring injury.
Cody Gakpo is a doubt after missing the first leg and the weekend win over Southampton. It was thought he may return for the latter but suffered a setback, but will hope to take his place on the bench here.
There was some rotation against Southampton, with the likes of Kostas Tsimikas and Darwin Nunez brought in. However, Liverpool were 1-0 down to the Premier League’s bottom side after an underwhelming first half, forcing Slot to bring on Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister and Elliott earlier than planned.
We should see a return to full strength here, with the biggest battle between Elliott, Szoboszlai and Jones for that third midfield spot. The former’s goal in the first leg might just give him the edge.
Whether domestically or in Europe, Liverpool have been dominant this season, especially at home.
The Reds have only lost three games across all competitions in 2024/25 and only one of those defeats has come at Anfield, 1-0 against Nottingham Forest way back in mid-September. Since then, Slot’s side have played 19 times on their own patch, winning an incredible 17 times, with draws against Manchester United and Fulham — both 2-2 — their only setbacks.
PSG have been excellent away in Ligue 1 this season, winning 10 and drawing three of their 13 matches on the road. But in the Champions League, it’s been much more difficult, with the Parisians losing two of their four league phase road matches, against Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
When the going has got tough on the road, PSG have failed to hit the mark. They’ll certainly still pose a huge test for Liverpool, especially given the form of Ousmane Dembele. But it’s very difficult to predict anything other than a Liverpool victory and progression further into the Champions League.
