Jermaine Jenas does not see Alexander Isak’s prospective move to Arsenal as a massive step forward for the striker.

Valued the be worth in excess of £100million, the Swedish international has be linked with a move away from St, James’ Park after enjoying his best goal scoring season to date, scoring 23 goals and assisting six in 34 Premier League games.

The Gunners and the Magpies faced off four times last season, with the Toon emerging victorious in three of those four encounters, while Arsenal secured a win on just one occasion.

That came in their most recent meeting at the Emirates Stadium in May, where Declan Rice notched the winner on 55 minutes.

Jenas, however, believes that interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool could tempt the 25-year-old to leave St. James’ Park.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder said: "For him to leave Newcastle, if I was Isak, this phone call needs to come in from Real Madrid, or it needs to come in from Barcelona, or maybe Liverpool.

"[Manchester] City is not an option for starters. Arsenal and Liverpool are an option, but I don't see Arsenal as a massive jump forward, personally.”

The striker has strongly been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but the steep transfer fee seems to be a stumbling block for Arne Slot’s side

Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club record fee of £63m.

It is believed that Mikel Arteta is a long term admirer of the striker, however it seems like the north Londoners’ priorities is one of Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres.
