Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to be highly spoken of in the Spanish capital as the Liverpool star is seen as one of Real Madrid’s most favoured options to reinforce the right-back position next summer.
Already close to the final six months of his contract, the Englishman is still far from a renewal with Liverpool and the chance of him leaving as a free agent is increasing by the day.
Given Los Blancos’ well-documented struggles at right-back this season and the age of Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal, Alexander-Arnold would have the chance to become an instant starter at Real Madrid.
As revealed in an update provided by David Ornstein, Liverpool continue to be in conversation with the defender over a contract renewal and they hope to secure his extension at the earliest.
The interest from Real Madrid, however, implies that there is a realistic chance that he refuses a renewal and it is thus unclear how the saga will end. All doors are open as it stands.

Alexander-Arnold started on the bench for Liverpool in the team’s recent clash against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and did not come off the bench as he was just recovering from injury.
It was Conor Bradley who took his place on the night, and the 21-year-old done well to make his name as a solid backup this term, potentially opening the door to Alexander-Arnold’s exit.
So far this season, Alexander-Arnold has made 12 league appearances for Arne Slot’s side and has racked up just one assist in the duration.
Yet, he has been defensively solid and vital to the buildup and he even delivered a special performance against Manchester City recently.
