Liverpool’s summer transfer window continues to make headlines, and the latest revelation is truly eye-catching. According to a report from Empire of the Kop, the Reds are preparing a stunning £120m offer for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, a move that would break the club’s transfer record for the second time this summer following Florian Wirtz’s £116m arrival.
There is no hiding Liverpool’s intent to strengthen their forward line. As Mark Brus from CaughtOffside puts it, “Alexander Isak is the dream target, and there has been initial communication with Newcastle. However, the expectation remains that it will take crazy money to convince the Magpies to sell their star player.”
With Darwin Nunez expected to leave with a move to Saudi Arabia is now on the cards after Napoli talks fell through, Arne Slot’s side are on the hunt for a marquee centre-forward. Isak’s record speaks for itself: 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle, including 27 last season. His blend of pace, technique and composure in front of goal would fit seamlessly into Slot’s dynamic attacking system.

Empire of the Kop’s sources reveal Liverpool are ready to offer Isak a six-year contract, making him one of the highest earners at Anfield. Currently on £120,000-per-week at Newcastle, a deal with Liverpool would likely boost that by over 25%, propelling him into the top five earners at the club, starting at a minimum of £150,000-per-week.
“Liverpool are serious about strengthening in the centre-forward position this summer,” the report states. The proposed long-term deal not only secures Isak’s best years but also sends a powerful message: Liverpool are determined to stay at the summit of English football after last season’s Premier League triumph under Slot.
A critical element of the negotiation will be ensuring Isak receives guarantees over regular game-time. Given Nunez’s expected departure and the club’s record-breaking investment, this should not be an issue. As highlighted, “Isak would 100% be a nailed-on starter at Liverpool.” With those numbers, any concerns the Swedish striker may have about his role in the squad should be swiftly eased.
Convincing Newcastle to part ways with their prized asset will undoubtedly be Liverpool’s toughest challenge. The Magpies view Isak as “unsellable” and are working on a new contract to tie him down. Yet, as the Empire of the Kop report suggests, an “enticing offer from Merseyside may yet tip the scales in our favour.” With Liverpool also interested in Hugo Ekitike, the Reds hold a strong hand in negotiations, potentially turning up the pressure on Newcastle.
Richard Hughes has already impressed this summer with smart business moves, and should he pull this deal off, it would truly be a headline-stealing coup.
As Liverpool supporters, it’s hard not to get excited by the thought of Alexander Isak pulling on the red shirt. His numbers at Newcastle have been sensational, and imagining him spearheading an attack alongside Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz and Luis Diaz is enough to make any fan dream of back-to-back Premier League titles.
Arne Slot has shown he can build a winning side quickly, but adding a striker like Isak could take Liverpool to another level, especially in Europe where they will want to make a stronger Champions League push this season.
There is always a worry about disrupting team chemistry or overpaying, but sometimes, to stay ahead of the chasing pack, you need to make bold moves. If the club can secure Isak on a six-year deal, we would be locking in one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards for his peak years.
With Nunez likely leaving, the timing feels right. Isak is not just a statement signing — he is someone who could define the next era under Slot. Fans should be hopeful, as this signals Liverpool’s ambition to remain at the top, not just in England, but across Europe.
