Liverpool could be closing in on an incredible forward who has the potential to be world-class.
This is a hectic summer at Anfield with Richard Hughes looking to rebuild Arne Slot's squad to make them even more competitive next season.
It's not easy to add more quality and depth to a Premier League title winning squad. However, so far the club's sporting director has delivered.
The trio of new arrivals in Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong all give Slot new 'weapons' he can used to make Liverpool a formidable force.
Meanwhile, in the goalkeeping department with Giorgi Mamardashvili coming in to replace Caoimhin Kelleher, Freddie Woodman replacing Vitezslav Jaros and Armin Pecsi replacing Harvey Davies, the Reds have upgraded all three of their previous options.
Mamardashvili in particular has the ability to be fighting for the no.1 spot alongside Alisson. Woodman's experience will be crucial and Pecsi is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential for the future.
Obviously, Hughes' work is not done yet. He's doing everything he can to make Liverpool even stronger.
That's one of the reasons why Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Will Wright as per a recent report. At first glance Wright is probably a name you haven't heard of, but don't let that fool you, this is another shrewd move from the Reds.
Wright scored over 40-goals at academy level for Salford City last season. He's a goal-machine and at 16-years-old he was already playing at senior level for the club, including making his debut in the FA Cup against Manchester City last season.
He's now 17-years-old and has four goals in his last three pre-season matches for Salford's first team, and it looks like he's bound for Anfield.
On paper, this is a significant addition that will bolster not only Slot's options but the club's U21 team as well with Wright likely initially being given a role in the academy as well.
He's an incredible forward. If you watch the range of goals he has scored at academy level you can see the raw finishing quality. At Liverpool he will become even better.
Especially because he'll be able to learn from not only some of the best coaches in the game but the best players as well. Whether that will include Alexander Isak, remains to be seen.
Clearly, he's the other main striker being targeted by the Reds. However, Newcastle United seem reluctant to sell him given that he is considered the club's best player.
Nonetheless, with both sides also in for Hugo Ekitike, it seems like Liverpool will be bringing in another no.9 and whoever that striker will be is someone Wright will be able to learn a lot from.
Ultimately, Hughes has outdone himself again. Wright's quality on display in the small snippets we have seen plus the fact that he was only the second 16-year-old to play in the FA Cup last season - the other one was Rio Ngumoha - just goes to show what an incredible talent Liverpool look to have signed.
All credit to Hughes and the club's recruitment team again.
