Huijsen, with his composure and physicality, could be the perfect long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konaté. He has that rare aura of a future world-class defender, and landing him for £50 million could look a bargain in two or three years.

As for Kerkez, he’s exactly the kind of player to freshen up the left-back position without disrespecting a club legend like Andy Robertson. His energy and technical skill are mouth-watering, and knowing Richard Hughes already believes in him makes the move even more appealing.
