Bologna defender Sam Beukema has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months.
The player has now hinted in an interview that he could be open to a move to the Premier League.
“I’ve been following the Premier League since I was a young kid and I love the competition,” he said. “For me it is maybe the best league to play in. I’m playing in a really big league, but the Premier League is something different with all the big teams, the high level. You see the atmosphere also and it is amazing. “Let’s see. I always like to challenge myself. I challenge myself a lot at Bologna, but I don’t know what will happen in the future. You can feel something special is coming here. We have these two objectives and want to achieve them both. We want to make history with the final. It will be really big for this club.”
According to a report from the Telegraph, the 26-year-old defender turned down Arne Slot three years ago, but he would relish the chance to play under the Dutch manager at Liverpool now. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool decides to make a move for him.
It is no secret that they need defensive reinforcements, and Beukema has done well at the Italian club. Bologna have managed to win the Coppa Italia, which was their first trophy in 51 years, and the player could now look to try out a new challenge. The opportunity to join the Premier League champions will be hard to turn down for him. It would be a massive step up in his career.

Liverpool have a talented squad, but they need to improve in order to continue competing at the highest level. They have looked vulnerable at the back at times this season, and signing a quality central defender would be a wise decision.
The 26-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and he will look to hit the ground running in the Premier League and establish himself as an important player for Liverpool if the transfer goes through. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League champions can negotiate a reasonable deal for him.
