As the summer transfer window looms, an intriguing development has emerged from Madrid: Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City have all expressed interest in Real Madrid’s versatile attacker, Rodrygo. This revelation, shared exclusively by TBR Football, hints at a potential seismic move involving one of La Liga’s most technically gifted forwards.
Rodrygo, 24, has long been admired across Europe, and Liverpool’s interest is hardly new. As TBR Football notes, “Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign Rodrygo when he was in his early years at Liverpool”. Although that transfer never materialised, the Merseyside club now has a second opportunity — and this time, the stars might just align.
With Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at the Bernabéu last summer, Rodrygo has seen his first-team minutes decline significantly. For the first time since arriving from Santos in 2019, the Brazilian international finds his place under threat. TBR Football confirms that “Rodrygo is assessing his future at Real Madrid”, a prospect that will have Premier League clubs on high alert.

Liverpool are not alone in the chase. Arsenal and Manchester City have also reportedly been in “contact with Rodrygo’s representatives in recent weeks to enquire about his situation.” All three clubs have maintained contact with the player’s camp for some time, underscoring just how highly rated he is.
While no formal bids have been submitted, the increasing noise around Rodrygo’s status suggests a decision could be imminent. Notably, TBR Football reports that “Rodrygo’s camp are being receptive to potential interest from the Premier League” — a shift in tone that is especially important given how resolute he has previously been about staying in Spain.
There’s also a managerial twist to consider. Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid, with Xabi Alonso widely expected to take the helm. Alonso, a former Liverpool favourite, may influence Rodrygo’s final decision — especially if assurances about his role are not forthcoming.
Last summer, Liverpool reportedly tabled a significant offer to lure Rodrygo to Anfield. Although some figures may have been inflated, the intent was genuine. “Reports in Spain actually claimed that Liverpool bid £84m for Rodrygo last summer,” TBR Football reveals.
Despite those efforts, Rodrygo opted to stay and fight for his place. With Mohamed Salah continuing to dominate the right-wing role at Anfield, it’s fair to question where the Brazilian might fit. However, TBR rightly points out: “Rodrygo can also excel on the left or centrally — explaining his appeal to the likes of Richard Hughes and other Premier League chiefs.”
His adaptability would make him a valuable asset under Arne Slot, especially as Liverpool aim to build on their Premier League-winning campaign.

Rodrygo’s future now hinges on the conversations scheduled with Madrid’s hierarchy. TBR Football outlines that “if Rodrygo is not given certain assurances about his place in the team then he will look at potential options elsewhere.” With the Spanish giants stacked with attacking talent — Vinicius Jr., Mbappé, Brahim Díaz, and others — such assurances may not be forthcoming.
For Liverpool, this could be a pivotal opportunity. A player of Rodrygo’s calibre doesn’t become available often, and the prospect of adding him to an already elite attacking setup will excite fans and club officials alike.
As a Liverpool fan, this news will spark genuine hope and excitement. Arne Slot’s first season could hardly have gone better — lifting the Premier League title and re-energising a squad that looked tired under Klopp in his final campaign. Adding Rodrygo to that mix? It feels like the next logical leap in evolution.
Slot has already shown a willingness to shift tactical shapes, and Rodrygo’s ability to play on either wing or centrally would offer rich variety. While Salah’s recent contract extension confirms his importance, he isn’t immune to fatigue or rotation. Having Rodrygo as a ready alternative — or even as part of a front three rotation — could be the difference in challenging on multiple fronts.
There’s also something symbolic about signing a player long linked with Klopp. While this would be a Slot signing, it honours the past while looking forward. It’s smart recruitment, especially if the fee lands south of the £84m previously rumoured.
And let’s not forget the allure of Anfield — a stadium Rodrygo has experienced first-hand. Under the lights, in front of the Kop, this might just be the career reboot he’s been waiting for. Fingers crossed this one gets over the line.
