In a recent post on X, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen. It has been stated that the Reds are eyeing a move to land the Nigerian striker this summer.

Osimhen’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football Last Season

Osimhen enjoyed a good run of form while on loan at Galatasaray recently after he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 26-year-old banged in 37 goals and picked up eight assists in 41 appearances for the Turkish club last season across all competitions.

The Nigerian sensation was a reliable presence in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 5.2 shots per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He kept 41.6% of his shots on target (stats via fbref.com).

Osimhen’s current deal at his parent club Napoli will expire at the end of next season which could give Liverpool a chance to sign him on the cheap this summer.

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Bring Osimhen On Board?

Osimhen excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for others around him on the offensive end of the field and is a strong runner with the ball. Standing at 1.86m, Osimhen can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels in the opponent’s half. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play up top.

Osimhen would add more firepower to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team place at Anfield next season.

The Nigeria international would also serve as an upgrade over Darwin Nunez, who has struggled to be consistent during his time at the Merseyside club. He might even help Liverpool compete for some major trophies over the next few years.

At 26, Osimhen will only get better with each season which makes him a good choice for the Reds to pursue this off-season. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his excellent form in the Premier League.
