Liverpool are set to recoup further funds from academy player sales with interest emerging in midfielder Tyler Morton.

The 22-year-old formed part of the England squad that won the u-21 European Championship this summer, ending a frustrating campaign on a positive note.

The midfielder made just five appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, after returning from a productive loan spell at Hull City in 2023/24.

A permanent exit is now expected, with West Ham United, Club Brugge and Ajax among the clubs linked. Ajax have recently appointed former Liverpool assistant John Heitinga as head coach.

Liverpool valued Morton at around £20m last summer and his future is set to be resolved when he returns for pre-season training. The midfielder has been handed an extended break, until July 20th, following his involvement at the u-21 Euros.

Should a deal materialise, it will continue Liverpool’s strong summer of sales for their Premier League Profit and Sustainability calculations.

Despite the additions of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz for a combined initial outlay of £169.5m, the Reds are in a strong financial position to continue investing.

Academy products Caoimhín Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold have moved on for a combined fee of around £26m, while Jarell Quansah is nearing a £34m move to Bayer Leverkusen. The potential sales of Morton and Harvey Elliott could take ‘pure profit sales’ north of £120m this summer
