Liverpool are reportedly ‘100% interested’ in a deal to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli this summer.
Arne Slot is assessing the market as Liverpool look to sign a centre-forward at the end of the campaign. Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool after three inconsistent seasons at Anfield, while Diogo Jota’s future is also unclear after an injury-hit period at Anfield.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of forwards and the Merseysiders reportedly have concrete interest in Osimhen. The Nigeria international can leave Napoli for a fee of €75m (£64.4m) this summer due to a release clause in his contact.
Following a fallout in Naples, Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan last summer after a permanent move to one of Europe’s top five leagues failed to materialise. He has since scored 29 goals in 34 games and is the leading scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba has claimed that Liverpool will ‘100% make a move’ to sign Osimhen in the summer. Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the 26-year-old. Reports earlier this week said the latter have agreed personal terms with the player’s representatives.
Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli before his loan move to Turkey and was Serie A’s top scorer as the club won a drought-breaking league title in 2022/23. At international level, he’s scored 26 goals in 40 caps for the Super Eagles.
Osimhen has previously discussed his desire to move to the Premier League, with a transfer to English football set to be a priority.
