Robert Lewandowski begins his fourth season at FC Barcelona. Since arriving in 2022, the veteran superstar has won two La Liga titles and is gunning for more success.
Having travelled to Japan with the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour, the centre-forward spoke to the media earlier today, during which he addressed his future at Barça while reserving praise for his teammates Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford.
This happens to be the final season in Lewandowski’s current contract with Barcelona, unless he agrees to an extension. When asked about his future, he preferred to focus on the present.
“I don’t know if it will be my last year at Barça, I don’t have that in my head, I’m calm, that’s not important now, it’s the season,” he said.
Talking about what he and Barcelona hope to achieve from the pre-season tour of Asia, Lewandowski added:
“We have come to play three games, but we want to work hard and train, to prepare very well for the season.”
The striker did not set a personal goal tally for himself for the season, stating: “The most important thing is where we want to go and how many titles we want to win, not just my goals.”
However, he added: “Of course, I hope my goals are important for the team, I think we can improve on last year, we can play better. There were games we didn’t play perfectly because we were a young team, but we can do more.”

Lewandowski also spoke about his new attacking teammate, Marcus Rashford, who has joined on loan from Manchester United.
“He is a very talented player, he is fit and can help us in different positions. His versatility will be very important, and that’s good for the team,” stated Lewandowski.
The Poland striker also referred to Lamine Yamal, with whom he says he has a great understanding, saying:
“This year he can play better than last year, every year he will be better, he is no longer a child.”
The UEFA Champions League remains the main objective for Barcelona players, and Lewandowski alluded to that during the interview, but insisted a lot of things need to fall into place for that.
“To win the Champions League you need many things, including avoiding injuries,” he said. “We have a better team than last year.”
However, Lewanowski was also wary about opposition sides wanting to beat them, saying:
“Everyone wants to beat us and we have to be prepared. We can only prove ourselves on the pitch. We are stronger. The first year with Hansi was something new, and now we understand where we want to go. We need the same mentality as last year.”
