Leverkusen have sold defenders Jonathan Tah and Odilon Kossounou to Bayern Munich and Atalanta, respectively, but have acquired Jarell Quansah from Newcastle United.

Ten Hag is eyeing more central defenders and is considering the possibility of reuniting with Lindelof, who he worked with at Manchester United.

The Swedish centre-back parted ways with the Red Devils when his contract expired in June.

It concluded his seven-year spell at Old Trafford, during which he featured in 285 games.

Lindelof was part of the United squad that won the FA Cup in 2023/24 under Ten Hag.

Leverkusen appreciate the Swede’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities, but they are yet to initiate concrete talks with him.

Aston Villa, West Ham United, Fiorentina and several Serie A clubs have been linked with Lindelof, but none have made a suitable offer.

Lindelof has been plagued with a series of injuries over the last few years, but he can rejuvenate his career at Leverkusen if he remains fully fit.

Although he is not considered a long-term option, the Swede could be crucial to their Champions League ambitions in the upcoming season.

Die Werkself are also working on a deal to sign Sevilla centre-back Loic Bade. He is rated at around €25 million.
