AC Milan had two representatives for France on Thursday evening, and whilst Les Bleus did not have a good game as a whole, the Rossoneri duo were below average.
A 0-0 at the State de France is never going to be seen as a good result for the French National Team, irrespective of the opposition. However, failing to score against Israel in a must win game is deeply frustrating.
It is a game where the scores given by L’Equipe (and relayed by Milan News) were quite low anyways, but it is fair to suggest that the Milan duo especially had performances that will standout at face value, which has sometimes been the case this season.
Starting with Maignan, the goalkeeper was given a 5 in the ratings – surprising given he kept a clean sheet. Nevertheless, the French paper deemed him to be a ‘very privileged spectator’. The goalkeeper had ‘one of those nights’ which happen when your team are the dominant force, and because he was not really called upon, he cannot be given a high rating.
For Theo, though, the judgement is not as kind. L’Equipe (via Milan News) stated that there is a ‘right’ to expect more from the defender, but he ‘did not offer much’. Instead, he was inaccurate with his passes, and whilst he had a good moment early on, his performance was very underwhelming with him scoring a 3.
