According to Maximilian Koch (via @MiaSanMia), Leon Goretzka will not leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Over the past twelve months, there has been great speculation surrounding the future of Goretzka in the Bayern squad.

With never-ending links to the Premier League, it appeared as though a move was destined to happen.

However, the German midfielder has repeatedly stated his desire to remain in Bavaria and fight for his place in the squad, and now it looks as though his wish will be granted.

It is understood that Goretzka wants to fulfil his contract with Bayern, which runs until 2026.

In the meantime, the 29-year-old wants to work his way into Vincent Kompany’s starting XI, battling it out with Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer, João Palhinha, and Aleksandar Pavlović.

While Goretzka failed to play a single minute against Tottenham Hotspur in Bayern’s most recent pre-season friendly, the former Schalke 04 midfielder is looking towards the start of the Champions League campaign, where he believes he will get the minutes to prove why he can be key for Kompany in the long run.
