Leicester may play part in Enzo Maresca's Chelsea downfall

The grass isn't always greener, it might just be mowed by a more expensive lawnmower. That's an awful Chelsea and Leicester City contrast analogy for you, in order to illustrate my point. And my theory is that, while Enzo Maresca didn't leave the Foxes in a mess, his departure massively rocked the LCFC boat. As a member of the Blue Army, I don't harbour any ill feeling towards Maresca. It's actually the opposite after his Championship success at King Power Stadium. Although I would have liked to see him stay on Filbert Way for a bit longer of course.

Nevertheless, the one-time Pep Guardiola disciple was obviously attracted by a seemingly infinite budget. The Blues have outspent every Premier League club by at least £300 million minimum during the Clearlake Capital/Todd Boehly era. Though Maresca doesn't seem to have gotten exactly what he wanted from the transfer market whilst on Fulham Road. In addition to that element, the bright lights of the English capital surely lured the Italian like a moth to a light source.

I still believe the former manager of the east Midlands outfit has done a decent job in west London, to be fair. The injuries Chels suffer have hampered his progress, which is an uptick following Mauricio Pochettino's tenure. But being seventh in the EPL is not good enough for those who pull the strings at Stamford Bridge. If things continue the way they are, City may play a significant part in Enzo Maresca's increasingly likely downfall at CFC.

How Leicester City can ironically finish Enzo Maresca subsequent to job switch

According to Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson, if the 45-year-old cannot muster wins versus Leicester and Southampton - he'll get the sack at Chelsea. The Blues face the Saints on Tuesday evening, then LCFC on March 9.

"If they don't win their next two games, the manager won't be there. They're playing against two of the worst teams to play in the Premier League for I don't know how long in Southampton and Leicester. So, if they don't win those two games, he will do well to keep his job."
