With Celtic FC Foundation’s Legends Charity Match now less than a month away, we caught up with Scott Brown as he spoke of his excitement ahead of the game and the importance of the funds that will be raised.

Scott, who will captain the Celtic side, said: “I’m really looking forward to the game, which will be a huge occasion for all the older players taking part. but I’m also really looking forward to seeing the lads, as I’ve not seen some of them in a long time.

“So far we’ve got Artur Boruc, Emilio, Lusto, Charlie Mulgrew, Stephen McManus, Darren O’Dea, Joe Ledley - my partner in crime in the middle of the park - and we’ve got big Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Gary Hooper up top.

'That’s a few of the names we’ve got so far and we’re really looking forward to it all coming together, with hopefully a special occasion for everybody.'

“In terms of what the fans can expect, I’m hoping the lads have really looked after themselves.

"I know Joe Ledley has been playing in couple of charity games, Charlie has kept himself ticking over and Lusto still looks like he’s built like the side of a fiver!

"The game should be a good tempo and, of course, we’ll be aiming to win the game for all the fans coming along.”

Funds raised through the match will focus on feeding people in need of support, to reflect the heritage of the Club and respond to the current cost of living crisis, which is overwhelming so many families and individuals.

This will include continuation and development of Celtic FC Foundation’s Paradise Pit Stop project at Celtic Park.

In addition, we will look to secure new locations for food provision with local partners in Inverclyde and Lanarkshire, plus London and Ireland to complement our current delivery of key projects in those areas.

Scott added: “Paradise Pit Stop is a fantastic project that the Foundation have been delivering. It’s helping people in the community, whether it’s putting food on the table or allowing people to just socialise with each other.

'The more supporters that come along, the more money we can raise to help those in our communities.'

A donation will also be made to Dundee Cancer Centre at Ninewells Hospital, in memory of Scott’s sister Fiona, who sadly passed away in 2008 aged just 21.

Scott also highlighted how much this has meant to him, saying: “A huge thank you to the Foundation on behalf of myself and my family.

"We’ve all had heartache throughout the years and mine was my little sister passing away very young from skin cancer. It’s amazing that the Foundation are donating to Ninewells to help out.”
