Leeds United are shifting gears in the transfer market, and their early activity signals a summer of serious intent.
After securing promotion to the Premier League following a historic Championship campaign where they racked up 100 points, the Whites are wasting no time strengthening Daniel Farke’s squad.
Leeds have spent the past two seasons striving for a return to the top flight. After getting the job done, they’ll now turn their attention to becoming an established Premier League club.
Farke’s side have started making moves to that effect. First through the door was striker Lukas Nmecha, who joined on a free transfer after his contract with VfL Wolfsburg expired.
Leeds are also on the cusp of signing Udinese centre-back Jaka Nijol after agreeing a €22 million (£18.7m) fee for the Slovenian defender.
But they’re not stopping there. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Leeds are also making a move for Union Saint-Gilloise (USG) midfielder Noah Sadiki.
The Peacocks have reportedly made contact to gauge the intentions of USG’s management and have submitted an opening bid worth €10m (£8.5m).
Sadiki is valued at £10m on Transfermarkt and has two years left on his contract, so USG could demand more, but Leeds are keen to get a deal over the line.
The 20-year-old primarily operates in the middle of the park but has shown the ability to fill in at right-back when required. His versatility adds to his growing status as a rising star.
According to data site FBREF, Sadiki has a similar profile to Tottenham Hotspur ace Lucas Bergvall.
The DR Congo international’s engine is remarkable. He featured 55 times across all competitions for USG last season, chipping in two goals and six assists.
Sadiki averaged one interception, 1.8 tackles, 1.3 clearances, and 4.4 ball recoveries per 90 minutes.
He also created seven big chances and averaged 1.1 key passes per match, proving he can be effective on either side of the ball.
While Leeds are hoping to finalise a deal for Sadiki, they’re also eyeing a move for Aston Villa duo Alex Moreno and Emiliano Buendia.
