The Japanese international has been crucial for the Hoops this season, scoring 33 goals in all competitions, so far, as Brendan Rodgers’ side have won another league title, and they’re on course for a domestic treble.

Maeda is integral to the way Celtic play with his relentless work-rate, and he has been prolific since January after switching from a wide role to a central striker.

Unsurprisingly, such form has caught the eye, and TBR Football has revealed that a whole host of Premier League clubs could look to tempt Maeda down south.

They claim that Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs have ‘all watched’ the 27-year-old this season, with Aston Villa, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Fulham, West Ham and Leeds making up the rest of the clubs who are monitoring Maeda.

The report adds that Celtic would command a fee of around £25m for their star man if they were to cash in, which would make him one of their record sales along with Matt O’Riley.

Maeda is under contract at Parkhead until the summer of 2027, and whilst Rodgers confirmed last month that talks were underway over a new deal, it hasn’t been signed.

Daizen Maeda would be a real coup for Leeds United

You only have to look at the number of clubs who are keen on Maeda to see that it’s going to be very difficult for Leeds to win the race for his signature.

But, it would be a statement of intent if they could bring him in, and Maeda would bring a lot to the Leeds team.

Firstly, he is capable of playing in two attacking positions, and he will score goals with his pace and movement, which makes him a constant threat.

So, he would certainly suit Daniel Farke’s philosophy, and he would be the sort of addition that could make Leeds very competitive on their return to the Premier League, which is going to be the aim of the ambitious owners.
