Following the team’s devastating elimination from the Europa League, Lazio coach Marco Baroni will rotate his starting lineup for Monday’s Serie A clash against Genoa.
The gruelling 120+ minutes against Bodo/Glimt and the subsequent dramatic shootouts have certainly taken their toll on the Biancocelesti from a physical and mental standpoint. Hence, the manager will be looking to ring the changes for the Luigi Ferraris contest.
Between compulsory changes and optional calls, La Lazio Siamo Noi expects Baroni to make five changes to the lineup that started in the second leg against Bodo/Glimt. Christos Mandas is tipped to keep his spot between the sticks, but Mario Gila could be the only one to survive the defensive overhaul.
Samuel Gigot should give Alessio Romagnoli a breather, while Luca Pellegrini will start on the left flank with Nuno Tavares ruled out by a new injury and Adam Marusic also doubtful for the contest. Elseid Hysaj should replace Manuel Lazzari at right-back.
In the middle of the park, Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella should keep their spots, and the same goes for Pedro in the attacking-midfielder role. On the other hand, Gustav Isaksen will be serving a one-match ban, so Loum Tchaouna should fill in his stead on the right wing, while Mattia Zaccagni preserves his role on the opposite flank.
Finally, Taty Castellanos’ availability is in doubt. The striker wasn’t supposed to play 120 minutes, having only recently returned from a long layoff, but the circumstances of the match forced him to remain on the pitch for the duration of the match, despite suffering a cramp in the final stages. Therefore, Boulaye Dia is likely to get the nod on Monday.
Lazio (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Hysaj, Gigot, Gila, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella; Tchaouna, Pedro, Zaccagni; Dia.
