Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has on Wednesday reiterated his hope that he will be joined by a close friend and international teammate in Catalunya’s capital this summer.

The player in question? Nico Williams.

The name of wide-man Nico has of course positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona for several months now.

As much comes amid the widespread understanding that the 21-year-old is considered the ideal profile to reinforce the attacking options of incoming head coach Hansi Flick.

Nico, for his part, has only continued to build on his stellar reputation whilst at the European Championships, in with a shout of Player of the Tournament honours owing to his exploits with Spain.

And one fellow member of La Roja’s ranks who would love nothing more than to have the chance to line out alongside the Athletic Club star at club level next season, too, comes in the form of Lamine Yamal.

Speaking in an interview with ‘Jugones’ on La Sexta, as cited by Diario Sport, on Wednesday, Barcelona sensation Lamine had the following to say when asked for his take on the prospect of joining forces with Nico at the Camp Nou:

“I hope so, everyone would like to play with their friends. We have a lot in common, we play in the same position, our style is similar and we have a very good relationship between us.”
