Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has continued to etch his name into the history books of European football with his endeavours at Euro 2024 to date.

Lamine, for his part, has of course proven himself one of the headline talking points of the tournament to date.

As much comes with the Spanish international, at just 16, having made Spain’s right flank his own, courtesy of a dazzling string of performances featuring guile, explosiveness, and crucially, end product.

The world of football, in turn, have begun to take notice of what those of a Barcelona persuasion have long known – that Lamine is a legitimate generational talent.

Even by his own lofty standards, though, a statistic to have surfaced on Monday, surrounding the youngster’s creative exploits, looks an impressive one.

As revealed by statisticians Opta, only two Spanish players have ever created more chances than Lamine’s 14 in a single European Championship campaign.

And the pair will be well known to fans of Barcelona, namely midfield icon Xavi, and another ex-Blaugrana standout, in Cesc Fàbregas.

With as many as two outings potentially still to play, it is not at all out of the question that Lamine could yet climb higher on the list, either…
