Real Madrid have made La Liga and the RFEF their enemies with their recent antics and it is clear that relationships are at an all-time low.

Javier Tebas, moreover, has always been one to be against the Real Madrid leadership and the current situation has led to a series of fiery exchanges and statements from the La Liga president.

Now, after Real Madrid refused to play in the Copa del Rey final, Tebas has not held back and has openly criticised the club for their constant means of pressuring match officials.

Tebas speaks

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, the La Liga president opened up on the Florentino Perez topic once more and did not hold back in lashing out at the Real Madrid administration for repeatedly targeting the referees.

“It’s the tension between a club and the referees. If the Copa del Rey was not played, it would have been for the Real Madrid Board of Directors,” he began, referring to Real Madrid’s attempt to pressurise a referee change for the Copa del Rey final.

“They are trying to generalize that it is a matter of many clubs. The rest complain once or twice a year. Real Madrid TV do it every week,” he added, lashing out at Madrid.

When asked to comment on Florentino Perez, Tebas admitted that there was very little he saw eye to eye on with the Real Madrid president.

“He is an adversary in the concepts of how he wants professional football. We are at the antipodes. He wants an elitist and hierarchical football.”

Speaking on the effect Perez has had on Real Madrid and the club’s evolution over the years, he said,

“He has been a great manager of Real Madrid, he has made it powerful. Managing clubs is one thing and the industry is another.”

“It’s irreconcilable because they are two different soccer models,” he added, summarising his view of Tebas in one sentence.
