La Liga president Javier Tebas has shared his thoughts on Barcelona’s financial situation and their plans to sign Joan Garcia by activating his €25 million release clause and their return to Spotify Camp Nou for the 2025/25 season.

Tebas believes Barcelona are aware of the steps they need to take in order to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play regulations. “I hope to have a quiet summer with Barça,” he said.

“They know what they have to do, and we hope they do it soon. It’s not that complicated. I hope they follow through.”

Interestingly, his comments suggest that while the situation is manageable, time is of the essence for the Catalan club.

Regarding Joan Garcia’s signing, Tebas explained that La Liga is often only informed shortly before the release clause is paid.

“Usually, they call us the day before or the same morning to notify us that the clause is deposited,” he stated. “Barcelona will know better than we do when they’ll make the move.”

When will Barcelona return to Camp Nou?

Tebas also confirmed that Barcelona will be given time to complete the final works at Camp Nou before hosting matches there again.

As has been done for other clubs under stadium renovation, La Liga will allow Barcelona to play their first few matches of the 2025/26 season away from home.

“As is the case with all clubs undergoing construction, they have requested that the first three matchdays not be played at Camp Nou, and that’s always been granted.

“Their first home game could be after the FIFA break or the following matchday. They could possibly play at Camp Nou around September 20th,” he noted.

Lastly, he also spoke on possible sanctions on the club from UEFA, stating, “I don’t know the reasons for the sanction, but what I do know is that UEFA’s Financial Fair Play will normally be analysing the accounts from two seasons ago.”
