Arsenal are headed to the UEFA Champions League semifinals after a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their quarterfinal matchup, sealing a dominant 5-1 aggregate victory and setting up a clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Moreover, with Kylian Mbappe failing to win the Champions League, the Frenchman is facing criticism from the football media, especially with PSG reaching the semifinals for a second straight year.
Bukayo Saka had a chance to put Arsenal in front early but missed a first-half penalty, briefly giving Real Madrid a glimmer of hope as they tried to claw back from a three-goal deficit. That hope didn’t last long.
Saka made up for the miss in the 65th minute, opening the scoring to give Arsenal the lead. Vinicius Jr. responded almost immediately, leveling the match just two minutes later.
But Arsenal never lost their grip on the tie, and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the result with a stoppage-time goal to send the Gunners through.

With Mbappe moving to Real Madrid was supposed to be in the Champions League final this season as its the reason he moved to the Spanish capital. However, that wasn’t the case and now the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner could be entering Zlatan Ibrahimovic territory as one journalist stated.
“The Qatar-owned club have almost been laughing at how they have gone to a new level without him, and it would be another irony if the Qatar-owned club won the Champions League and Madrid lose it just as he switches,” The Independent’s Miguel Delaney wrote. “That hasn’t been seen since Zlatan Ibrahimovic left 2008-09 Internazionale for 2009-10 Barcelona.”
