Former Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs is set to take on a new career path as an ‘on-air talent’ at Inter Miami after the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract, according to MLS journalist Tom Bogert.

Gibbs joined the MLS side in March 2021 and made 27 league appearances since his arrival.

While he has not announced his retirement from football, the move to an in-house media role with the club suggests that his playing days are coming to an end.

Gibbs is best known for his time at Arsenal, where he made 229 appearances in total and won the FA Cup three times.

Arsene Wenger transformed him from a left-winger to a full-back, which he excelled in and played 42 times in the Champions League.

Gibbs left Arsenal in 2017 and joined West Bromwich Albion, helping them get promoted from the Championship in the 2019/20 season.

Gibbs’ experience playing for Arsenal and alongside great players like Mesut Ozil, Robin Van Persie, and Alexis Sanchez will allow him to offer valuable insights into playing at a top level.

His experience in MLS with Miami will also help in his new role, as he will know the ins and outs of the club.

The move to a media role with Inter Miami highlights a growing trend in football where clubs are beginning to offer more support to players after retirement.
