Brendan Rodgers has banged on about the need for quality in his ranks for some time now, and in the summer he was granted his wish as he was allowed to spend £20 plus million on the new faces.
These new signings have worked out well as our fantastic start to the season would suggest, but it’s now more of a question of our squad depth and the quality that it brings, or presently what it seems to lack.

Last night against Dundee was a perfect example of that. We didn’t look like our usual free flowing selves with a number of our regular starters such as Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn, Callum McGregor, Alistair Johnston and Reo Hatate not in the starting XI.
Defensively we were fine with the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Greg Taylor at the back, but we seemed to lack something extra in an attacking sense, especially with Kyogo off the boil on the night. That changed with the introduction of Reo, Daizen, and Alistair Johnston and you could see the difference in our attacking qualities from then on in.

We also witnessed similar in the game with Falkirk in the last round of the League Cup. Brendan demands quality throughout his squad, so it’s a problem he will no doubt try to improve in the next transfer window. Don’t be surprised if a new winger isn’t a top priority for the January window.
