Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu are back in training ahead of Tuesday’s clash with RB Leipzig.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter only just returned from the international break yesterday afternoon.
The Nerazzurri beat Hellas Verona 5-0 in Serie A to hit the ground running as the title race resumed.
But it will only be a couple days before Inter are in action once again.
On Tuesday of next week, the Nerazzurri will host RB Leipzig in the Champions League. This will be their fifth match of the season in Europe’s top club competition.
So far this campaign Inter have yet to taste defeat in Europe. They have kept four clean sheets from four matches in the Champions League.
Inter drew away to Manchester City before beating Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys, and Arsenal.
That has left Inter in a strong position to qualify directly for the round of sixteen of the competition.
However, taking three points against RB Leipzig this coming week will hardly be easy.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has a couple pieces of good news in terms of player availability for Tuesday’s match.
Firstly, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is back in training.
The Argentine had missed out on yesterday’s match against Verona. This was due to a fever and flu-like symptoms that he had been suffering from.
However, Sky reports, Martinez is already back in training with the rest of his teammates today.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri captain should be available to play against Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu missed yesterday’s match due to a slight thigh problem from the international break.
However, the Turkish international has put that behind him. He trained normally today and should be ready for Tuesday’s match.
On the other hand, Francesco Acerbi will miss Tuesday’s match after suffering a thigh injury against Verona yesterday.
