Kamaldeen Sulemana has completed a permanent switch to Serie A outfit Atalanta, with the Italian side reportedly paying around £18 million for the Ghanaian winger.

Southampton will receive an initial £15 million as part of the deal, with the 23-year-old signing a four-year contract that runs until 2029, including an option for an extra year.

The move brings an end to Kamaldeen’s two-and-a-half-year stay at St Mary’s, following his arrival from Stade Rennes in January 2023 for what was then a club-record fee.

He joined in a bid to help Saints avoid relegation from the Premier League, but endured a difficult spell on the south coast that included back-to-back relegations.

During his time with the club, the Ghana international made 74 appearances, scoring four goals and registering seven assists.
