Juventus sense bargain as Sancho saga nears tipping point

Juventus’ pursuit of Jadon Sancho has reached a crucial point, with growing optimism in Turin that the English winger could soon swap Manchester United for Serie A. Multiple Italian outlets, including Tutto Juve, report that Juventus are in advanced negotiations over a permanent deal, setting the fee close to €25 million and working on finalizing a contract worth around €6 million plus bonuses.

Sancho, currently out of favour at Manchester United, is said to be keen on the move as the Red Devils continue to trim their wage bill and reshape Erik ten Hag’s squad. Massimo Pavan, writing for Tutto Juve, argued bluntly that “it’s Manchester United who must give Sancho away, not Juventus who should buy him.” He highlighted the financial burden facing United, suggesting Juventus should avoid spending more than €10 million for a player who is both expensive and approaching a contract expiry. Anything higher, Pavan noted, “would be madness.”

Despite Pavan’s caution, sources such as Michele De Blasis provide a more optimistic assessment from Juventus’ perspective, indicating that the club believes agreement on personal terms is close and that only minor details remain before a deal can be completed. Sancho’s availability comes as Juventus continue reshaping their attacking options in the summer transfer window.

Juventus have already secured Jonathan David on a free transfer from Lille, offering a proven Ligue 1 goalscorer to bolster their forward line. With David’s arrival handled, Sancho is next on the priority list, serving as an alternative to other wide targets after negotiations for Viktor Gyokeres faltered—Gyokeres is expected to complete a move to Arsenal for €80 million.

While the deal for Sancho is not yet final, Juventus see an opportunity to capitalise on the player’s situation at Manchester United, whose focus appears to be on reducing their payroll and freeing up squad spots. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are maintaining a pragmatic approach to their summer business, keeping wage and transfer cost discipline at the forefront.

Elsewhere in the market, Juventus continue to track other attacking and midfield targets amid a broader squad shakeup. There’s ongoing consideration of Randal Kolo Muani (though PSG’s valuation remains a stumbling block), and alternatives such as Marcus Rashford may come into play. In addition, Juventus are eyeing reinforcements in midfield, though the high price tags for some targets necessitate careful strategy.

With fan expectations high and transfers moving rapidly, the consensus among Italian journalists is clear: any Sancho deal will only happen on financially favourable terms for Juventus, with Manchester United under pressure to make concessions.
