In the biggest showdown of Serie A Round 31, Roma and Juventus locked horns at the Stadio Olimpico in a direct Champions League showdown. Although it wasn’t the most electrifying contest, it certainly had its moments, including an astonishing opener from Manuel Locatelli in the first half. After the interval, the Giallorossi swiftly responded through Eldor Shomurodov’s rebound, but neither side was able to find the winner. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who returned to Turin with a single point in the bag following their 1-1 draw against Roma.
Michele Di Gregorio – 6
The former Monza goalkeeper did well to parry away Evan Ndicka’s header, but could do nothing on Shomurodov’s rebound.
Pierre Kalulu – 6.5
The French defender made at least five perfectly-timed interventions at the back, and it was his run and cross that instigated the opener. However, he drops a few points for losing track of Stephan El-Shaarawy on one occasion and then Shomurodov on the equalizer.
Renato Veiga – 6
A solid display at the back from the young Portuguese who held his own against Artem Dovbyk. He wasn’t too involved in the buildup this time.
Lloyd Kelly – 6.5
The Englishman hardly put a foot wrong throughout the contest. Kept Matias Soulè at bay, and tried to support his teammates with a few attacking forays.
Timothy Weah – 6
The American looked lively in the first half, setting up Gonzalez with a nice cross. However, he faded after the interval before being duly hooked off.
Manuel Locatelli – 7
An evening to remember for the Juventus captain who ended his goal drought with a superb volley. Overpowered Manu Koné in the middle of the park, but was caught lagging in midfield before being replaced.
Khephren Thuram – 6
The former OGC Nice star had a back-and-forth battle with his compatriot Koné, which both players seemed to enjoy. He often pushed forward to support his teammates in the final third, but his impact was minimal.
Weston McKennie – 5.5
The USMNT star started the contest as a right wingback before switching to midfield following Locatelli’s exit. An industrious display as usual, but lacked the final product.
Nicolas Gonzalez – 6.5
The Argentine winger looked inspired while playing in an almost free role. He would have broken the deadlock with a precise header if it weren’t for Mile Svilar’s majestic save.
Kenan Yildiz – 5.5
The Turkish teenager saw a lot of the ball as his Juventus teammates turned to him for inspiration, but he wasn’t productive enough on this occasion. He couldn’t dribble past his marker nor threaten with his shooting.
Dusan Vlahovic – 4.5
The Serbian striker is still struggling to control and hold up the ball, as his technical skills have seemingly escaped him.
Randal Kolo Muani – 5
The Frenchman hardly saw the ball, so he didn’t prove to be an upgrade on Vlahovic.
Andrea Cambiaso – 6
A decent cameo from the Italy international on his return from injury, although he’s still far from his sharpest form.
Teun Koopmeiners – 5
This is getting repetitive at this stage, but the Dutchman is offering little to nothing for Juventus in the final third.
