Juventus are still in with a high chance of signing Francisco Conceicao permanently from Porto next summer, despite the fact that he joined the Old Lady on a straight loan deal without a buy option.
Conceicao joined Juventus in the final week of the transfer window on a dry loan from Porto. The deal cost Juventus €7m, which could rise up to €10m by the end of the 2024-25 season.
The Bianconeri had been hoping to include a buy option for the 21-year-old Portugal international, but were unable to shake hands with Porto before the end of the transfer window.
Instead, Juve will look to activate the €30m release clause in Conceicao’s Porto contract, which will become active from next summer onwards.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim, however, that Juventus will still look to negotiate a reduced fee. The feeling is that Conceicao wanted to join the Bianconeri, given that he interrupted his pre-season preparations to make himself available for the transfer. Juventus will also point to the fact that they will have already paid close to €10m to have him on loan for the 2024-25 season.
Monday’s report suggests that the Cristiano Giuntoli and his team could offer a fee of around €15m, plus around €3m in bonuses as an opening offer next summer, but there is still a long way to go before the directors sit down at the negotiating table again.
