The Dutch forward is enjoying a stellar season for Andoni Iraola’s high-flying side, netting 13 goals and registering eight assists so far in 33 appearances across all competitions as a key part of their high-scoring attack.

Kluivert started and played the full 90 minutes in Bournemouth’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat at home to Manchester City on Sunday, having also started both legs of the Netherlands’ heavyweight Nations League last-eight tie against Spain during the recent international break.

However, Iraola has now confirmed that the 25-year-old could yet be doubtful for Wednesday night’s visit of relegation-threatened Ipswich to the Vitality Stadium as the Cherries continue to assess their squad after the weekend having yet to resume training.

“We are still not sure on injuries because we still have to train as it’s less than 48 hours since the end of the game against City,” the Spaniard said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“Some players finished with some normal issues and we expect them to be ready.

“Justin is the one we are more in doubt with. He finished with some issues and we have to check today to see if he’s ready to go again.

“With the others, there are normal things after games but hoping everyone else could be ready for tomorrow.”

Bournemouth remain without the likes of Enes Unal, Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra, while Julian Araujo and Marcos Senesi have both been cleared to train after injury.

They will be boosted against Ipswich by the returns of key defenders Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez, both of whom missed the FA Cup defeat by City due to suspension after a respective accumulation of yellow cards.

“It’s very good to have Huijsen and Kerkez back, they are in a good moment of form,” Iraola said.

“We had Marcos Senesi start as well and Julian Araujo is nearly set to join the squad so there are recoveries.”
