In a major development, SPORT reports that FC Barcelona and RCD Mallorca have reached a full agreement for the transfer of Jan Virgili.
The 19-year-old winger will become the second player to move from Barça to Mallorca in this summer transfer window, following the transfer of Pablo Torre.
Mallorca had shown interest in signing Virgili throughout the summer. The needs of Jagoba Arrasate’s side included strengthening the wide positions, and the Basque coach was particularly fond of the Barcelona academy player.
Once again, his involvement proved decisive in securing the deal, just as it had been in the case of Torre.
The operation is now fully completed. Virgili will sign a five-year contract with Mallorca and will travel to the club today to formalise the move.
Mallorca executives Pablo Ortells and Aritz Aduriz travelled to Barcelona on Tuesday and again on Wednesday to finalise the details of the deal for Virgili and to explore the possibility of further moves involving other players like Hector Fort and Dani Rodriguez.

As per the report, Barcelona will retain 50% of Virgili’s rights, ensuring that the club does not completely lose control over the player’s future.
It had been suggested that Barça were demanding €4 million for 50% rights of the player, while Mallorca were offering only €2 million.
It now appears that the two parties have agreed on a figure of €3.5 million.
Virgili will now travel to Palma to join up with Jagoba Arrasate’s squad, who face Real Madrid this Saturday in the third matchday of La Liga.
Virgili was a key part of the Barça Juvenil A side that won the treble last season, but had a brief falling out with the club in recent weeks as he sought a first-team promotion instead of playing for the reserves.
The 19-year-old attacker impressed in the recent U-20 Intercontinental Cup match for the youth team against Flamengo, but with no place available in the first team due to overbooking in his position, he opted to take the step to join Mallorca.
