Jurgen Klopp has voiced his disapproval of Manchester United’s handling of Jadon Sancho.

The former Liverpool manager is currently taking a break from football, but that hasn’t stopped him from talking about United.

Sancho’s future has been the subject of debate heading into the summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, helping them to reach the Champions League final.

That move came after a public spat with Erik ten Hag. Most fans agree that Sancho crossed a line and few are losing sleep over his departure for Chelsea.

Speaking before the transfer deadline, Klopp said (via The Mirror): “If the whole world loses trust and faith in the player, the manager has to be the one behind the player. I cannot just. Buy into that ‘he’s useless,’ like other clubs did by the way – buying a player for £80m and then sending him out on loan!”

Sancho made 80 appearances for United, scoring just 12 goals, before joining Chelsea on loan.

Owen: Sancho mess will cost United millions

Another LFC mouthpiece by the name of Michael Owen also believes United treated Sancho unfairly, ultimately forgetting that the player called his manager a liar on social media. The former Liverpool and United striker believes the Sancho ‘mess’ will cost United millions.

“The Jadon Sancho situation was a mess, it has been right from the outset,” Owen told TVSporten.

“How can you pay what you’ve paid for Jadon Sancho and then have a huge argument and then all of a sudden, a year later, decide to clear the air. All the while paying the bulk of his wages even when he was out on loan.

“During that time he’s another year down on his contract. So the whole process has probably cost the club £20 million since the argument on top of his fee.

“And that’s just because you’re too stubborn to have that chat and clear the air. It just feels a mess right from the start – and, after seemingly having spoken and sorted out the differences, he still wasn’t in favour.”
