Julian Nagelsmann’s agent has confirmed Bayern Munich are not the only club they are talking to in regard to a return to club management next season.

Manchester United are said to be interested in replacing the much-maligned Erik Ten Hag this summer due to a season of poor form and excuses.

After enjoying a strong first season, a mixture of chaotic tactics and shocking results see United lie seventh in the table with a very real possibility the club does not even qualify for the Conference League next year.

While it must be stressed that no final decision has been made on the under-pressure Dutch manager, United have been linked with multiple replacements, such as Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi and Thiago Motta.

Another name that has been mentioned is that of German national team coach, Julian Nagelsmann. However, it was reported earlier this week that there was almost an agreement between the 36-year-old coach and Bayern Munich, meaning he was off the table for United.

Although this may not quite be the case.

Volker Struth, the manager’s agent, told the Spielmacher podcast (via The Metro), “everyone is asking me the question: is Nagelsmann going back to Bayern or what is he doing?”

“It will be decided soon. In the next five, six or seven days. It would be complete nonsense to say that we are not talking to interested parties”.

While it seems like a long shot, Nagelsmann’s agent kept the door ever so slightly ajar for United, or other clubs not called Bayern Munich, who may harbour an interest in the talented young coach.

“Without saying who the interested parties are, I can only say that it’s not just Bayern Munich [we are speaking to]. That’s normal.

“That’s my job and it would be a bit of a joke in the media to say we’re not in talks. Of course we are talking now”.

Whilst a deal between the Champions League semi-finalists and Nagelsmann looks all but done from the outside, the comments from his representatives offer a flicker of hope that United may be trying to convince the German his future lies in England.
