Manchester United’s players enjoyed a team-bonding night out earlier this month with new signing Joshua Zirkzee particularly stealing the show.
The Red Devils have frequently been criticised for lacking heart and stomach to fight for one another this season after they have regularly capitulated under the slightest of pressure in matches.
There have been green shoots of recovery recently however when the team beat Arsenal on penalties in the FA Cup despite playing well over an hour with ten men including extra time.
What’s more, the team also dug in to beat Ipswich Town 3-2 during the week despite playing the entire second half with ten men and this fight was characterised by Noussair Mazraoui and Zirkzee running to the aid of Manuel Ugarte during a scrap with Liam Delap late in the match.
The Daily Mail reports that the “players were spotted going to Lane 7 bowling alley in Altrincham before having dinner at Brazilian restaurant Jardim Rodizio” earlier this month.
The event was organised by captain Bruno Fernandes as he booked transport and made arrangements for the squad to spend two hours playing darts, pool, table tennis and basketball in addition to the bowling before they had dinner at 7pm.
United’s new signings had to do an initiation song at the event except Leny Yoro, who did his on last summer’s tour of the United States of America.
“Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all had to do a turn last week as well as January signings Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.”
Sources claim that Zirkzee’s R&B performance “was particularly impressive”.
The Dutch forward has been lambasted by numerous pundits for his start as a United player and was even booed by his own fans in a 0-2 defeat to Newcastle United over the festive period.
He was linked with a move away from the club in January but it did not come to pass.
Nonetheless, he has seemingly turned a corner as he was recently praised for a strong effort versus Ipswich midweek and it has been relayed here that the striker has won over Ruben Amorim with his work ethic in recent weeks.
