AFC Wimbledon secured their place in the League Two play-off final with a narrow 1â0 victory over Notts County at Plough Lane on Saturday, 17 May. Josh Neufvilleâs first-half strike proved decisive, giving the Dons a 2â0 aggregate win and the chance to return to League One at the first attempt.
In a cagey opening, both sides showed early signs of nerves, but it was Wimbledon who gradually grew into the contest. The decisive moment arrived in the 33rd minute when Neufville latched onto a well-weighted through ball and finished confidently past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Notts County pressed for an equaliser after the break but struggled to break down a resolute Wimbledon defence. The Magpies' best chance came late on, but substitute Macaulay Langstaffâs header drifted just wide of the post.
Wimbledon held firm in the closing stages, with a disciplined defensive display ensuring their clean sheet and confirming their place at Wembley.
The Dons will now prepare for the final, where they will face Walsall.
