The 26-year-old finished as Huddersfield Town's top scorer this season

Huddersfield Town were ruthless in their end-of-year releases, indicating that a big summer reset is on its way at the John Smith's Stadium.

The club saw 18 players in their first team and their academy depart, including club captain Jonathan Hogg, Danny Ward, Tom Lees, and Matty Pearson, who had each made over 100 appearances for the Terriers.

More surprisingly, however, the club saw the departure of Josh Koroma, who has also made over a century of appearances for Huddersfield and, unlike the prior four, still has some of his best years ahead of him at just 26.

The winger ended up netting 11 times in League One this season, including four in his final four games, winding up top of Huddersfield's goalscoring charts with his best goal return since he also scored 11 in the 2018/19 season for Leyton Orient, which subsequently earned him the move to West Yorkshire.

Koroma will no doubt have his pick of prospective clubs ready to offer him a deal in the upcoming off-season - here are three who we at FLW feel should be nearing the top of the sweepstakes.

Stoke City

With 119 Championship appearances, predicting Koroma to end up back in the second tier after having a good season in League One isn't too far out of the question.

Stoke City will be one of the teams looking to reset and improve ahead of next season, with Mark Robins set to undergo his first pre-season at the Potters.

Stoke scored under a goal a game this season in the Championship, netting 45 times. Only Hull City scored fewer over the campaign, so Robins should be looking at ways to improve his front line before August, as he hopes to avoid another relegation battle in 2025/26.

At just 26, Koroma will provide some much-needed experience across an attack which was scrutinised for being too inexperienced at points this season, whilst allowing the likes of Lewis Baker to drop back into a less attacking midfield role, where he is arguably more effective.

Leyton Orient

A move back to where it all started for Koroma may be on the cards no matter what division Richie Wellens' side ends up in next season.

The O's have made an unlikely play-off surge this season, due in part to their dynamic front three. The league's top scorer, Charlie Kelman, ahead of the in-form Dan Agyei and exciting Tottenham loanee Jamie Donley, has contributed to exactly half of Orient's league goals this season.

However, Kelman, along with Donley, will return to their parent clubs in the summer, and if one, or neither, is unable to extend their stay at Brisbane Road, bringing in Koroma on a free may not be a bad idea.

Koroma made over 100 Leyton Orient appearances before he turned 21, impressing week in, week out. Perhaps he may make his return this summer.

Blackpool

The least likely of the three, but still one that, if Blackpool were to look to make that climb into the top six, would make sense.

Blackpool have been operating with Sonny Carey on the left wing for the majority of the season, and whilst he did score eight in his last 12 games before missing the final four of the campaign, the 24-year-old arguably operates best in the centre.

If Blackpool were to bring in a natural winger such as Koroma, whilst keeping the goals of Carey in the centre of the park, a Tangerines attack which still scored the joint-second most in the league in 2024/25 would become even more dangerous.
