The Herald press cutting

Our title win back in 2012 was a quite remarkable achievement considering at one point we were a massive fifteen points behind at one stage in the campaign.

Our win over Rangers 1872 RIP 13 years ago today put us on top after playing catch most of the season and it’s a position we would remain in until the end of the season, and the end of the decade for that matter. Indeed thirteen years ago today was last day ever that Rangers FC started a match as top of the league. It will never happen again.

Distortion of facts after the death of Rangers FC

Despite that great accomplishment by Neil Lennon’s Celtic side, it’s been tainted in recent years by supporters of the Ibrox club who falsely claim that the reason we overtook them that season was down to the fact they went into administration which eventually brought on liquidation meaning the death of Rangers FC.

Let’s call out their claims right now as a total lie. It’s all there to see that administration had nothing whatsoever to do with our title win.

Rangers went into administration on 14 February 2012 by which time we were four points clear at the top of the table.

The fact that they self destructed had nothing to do with Craig Whyte’s decision to put the club into administration. We were leading the pack and on the way to the title before the death sentence had already been placed on the Ibrox club, that is a proven fact.

Like they always do, supporters of both Ibrox clubs lie and try to re-write history. Unfortunately for them the facts are there for all to see. Rangers FC cheated and died. The new club was created by Founding Father Charles Green who claimed he bought the titles won by the old club, Rangers FC.

The truth of the matter is, as just about every set of supporters in the Scottish Premiership has chanted to them: “You let your club die” but the truth hurts.

Here’s the highlights from 28 December 2011 as Joe Ledley made a unique piece of Scottish football history, although he didn’t know it at the time.
