Stevenage made it four wins from four in League One after a late comeback saw them beat Port Vale 2-1 on the road, with Jamie Reid once again the hero.
Vale went ahead in the first half through a well-worked finish from Lorent Tolaj, and they looked set to hold on until the closing stages. But Reid had other ideas, striking twice in the final minutes to flip the game on its head and take his personal tally to five goals already this season.
The 29-year-old’s brace also added to an impressive record away from home - since Stevenage returned to the third tier in 2023/24, he’s scored 17 league goals on the road, with only John McAtee (18) managing more in that period.
And his knack for producing decisive moments is unmatched. Reid’s latest strike was his 10th match-winning goal since Stevenage’s promotion, the highest total across all four divisions of English football.
Speaking after the game, gaffer Alex Revell “He’s in brilliant form. He’s someone that’s worked incredibly hard over the past two months, he really has.
“He’s gone from strength to strength, he’s a massive part of the group, he’s a leader.
“I thought he worked incredibly hard and when you work incredibly hard like he did, you get the rewards.
“He really deserved it and everybody in the group knows the qualities he has. He’s a difference maker for us without doubt."
