FC Bayern were by far the superior team in their 4-2 victory over Heidenheim, and yet the fans of the German record champions were left holding their breath until the final whistle. The two teams traded blows in the closing minutes before Jamal Musiala completed his brace in the third minute of added time to finally seal the win. The dribble maestro scored in front of his home crowd for the first time in the current Bundesliga season. “I've finally scored here in the [Allianz] Arena again. It feels good to celebrate with the fans,” said the 21-year-old. Sporting director Christoph Freund summarised: “We were extremely dominant in the first half and simply had to add the second or third goal to our tally. But in the end, win at home, tick, we move on.” fcbayern.com has compiled all the reaction to the game.

Reaction to the game against Heidenheim

Christoph Freund (sporting director): “Unfortunately, we made life a bit difficult for ourselves. We were brutally dominant and then let it become a close game. That's unnecessary. We were extremely dominant in the first half and simply had to add the second or third goal to our tally. But in the end, win at home, tick, we move on.”

Vincent Kompany: "We’ve had a difficult week. On Tuesday we played 70 minutes with 10 men against Leverkusen. The first half was very good, the counter-pressing worked very well. We also remained calm in the second half. We created a lot of chances, but Heidenheim stayed in the game. It was a very good game for us, also considering the other results."

Thomas Müller: “My attempt at a bicycle kick didn't go so well. My muscles were a bit tight, and I couldn't move after the break, but it wasn't that bad. I don't think it was the stupidest idea to make way for Jamal. In the end, the important thing is that we won today. If you really want to find a point of criticism, it's that we only went into the break 1-0 up and didn't capitalise on our chances consistently enough – something which we have to do in order to win closer games.”

Jamal Musiala: “It's about time I scored again with just my foot. Recently I've played a lot of games in a row. That's why it was good that I got a break and came back energised. I've finally scored here in the [Allianz] Arena again. It feels good to celebrate with the fans.”

Aleksandar Pavlović: “I’m glad to make my comeback, and winning makes it even better. Musiala is very important. He's an outstanding player who's just fun to play with. He was a driving force for us today. He's extremely good this year, also with his heading, which helps us a lot.”

Reaction from the Heidenheim camp

Frank Schmidt (head coach): “We took a different approach today – very defensive. Especially in the first half, we didn't have any breathing room at all. We wanted to do things differently in the second half and equalised with the first mistake Bayern made. But in order to then not lose momentum, you can't lose the ball five minutes later and open up the centre. The good thing is that we scored two goals here and never gave up. I don't think anyone would have thought after the first half that it would be exciting again. In the end, we lost and it's a deserved defeat.”

Niklas Dorsch (midfielder): “If we played a bit cleverer, we might've gotten another chance, but then all of a sudden it's 4-2 and the game is over. Ultimately, I'm happy about every goal, but it would also be nice if it was a goal that led to victory. If we held on to the draw for longer after scoring to make it 1-1 and Bayern had gotten a bit impatient, then there might have been more in it. I think we could have secured a point today.”
