Alan Shearer has been discussing what the future holds for Jack Grealish.

Newcastle United are one of the clubs repeatedly linked with the Man City and it is beyond laughable that the media keep on repeating this.

Jack Grealish is pretty much the least likely Eddie Howe and Newcastle United signing, when you consider his profile.

All of Newcastle’s big money signings have been players in their early twenties (or younger!), as United look to bring in the best possible quality at a young age, so that they have their best years ahead of them, can develop further as players, as well as increase in value when it comes to a potential transfer fee if/when they leave.

Jack Grealish turns 30 in September, has two years remaining on a contract where he is paid over £15m per season (£300,000 per week) and now Manchester City will reportedly take ‘only’ £40m for a player they paid £100m for in 2021.

Anybody paying £40m for Jack Grealish would almost certainly never recoup a penny of that in the future, whist if say he insisted on say a four year contract, which you would expect. Even if he would take a pay drop to say ‘only’ £10m per year/£200,000 a week, that would still represent a deal costing a minimum of £80m for transfer fee and wages.

Jack Grealish has only started 17 Premier League matches out of 76 these past two seasons, this season scoring only one PL goal and indeed only 12 in his entire four years at Man City. His best years are now in the past and as an attacking player, when he is 32, 33 and so on, what will he be giving you by that point? Jack Grealish also hasn’t exactly done himself any favours either with his lifestyle, not exactly a model pro like others who have been totally dedicated to their diet and fitness.

As Alan Shearer points out as well, it just doesn’t make any sense either with Newcastle United (on top of all the reasons listed above!!!), considering Eddie Howe already has Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes, two players I would play ahead of Jack Grealish anyway.

“I think Jack’s best position is coming off the left. That’s where we saw the best of him at Aston Villa and he was best there for Man City. That’s the position where Newcastle are really strong. They’ve got Barnes and Gordon for that side so I’d be surprised if Newcastle were in for him.

“It looks from the outside that there’s no future for him at Man City. Not whilst Pep is there. When this situation happens, you either sit there and take your money or you think ‘I’ve got enough money, I need to get out and play’ and I know Jack isn’t the type to sit around and do whatever.

“From a City point of view, you have to remember they paid £100million for him, the length of his contract and the salary he’s on, there’ll be a lot of things that have to be worked out before he goes elsewhere because no one’s paying £100million for him again and I guess no one would pay the salary that he’s getting.

“There will be a lot of things that would need to fall into place for him to leave and I guess Man City would help with that in terms of a payoff.

“There’s no doubt Jack is a talented lad and a really nice guy, he just lost his way at Man City for whatever reason and whenever that happens, you’ve just got to get out and play football again.

“It doesn’t look as if there is a future for him at Man City. I know the questions Pep has faced towards the end of the season and I saw his answers. He’s been as diplomatic as he could be and don’t forget, he’s trying to protect the club because they have an asset that they may have to sell and if Pep says anything negative then that brings down the asset’s price. From the outside looking in, it looks as if his future at Man City is done and he has to move on.’
