Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has revealed his delight with his performance against Newcastle, which he capped with a fantastic goal.

United beat Eddie Howe’s men 3-2 at Old Trafford and Amad had a big say in the match.

The Ivorian was sensational on his favoured right flank and left many wondering why he hasn’t been used more this season. He kept the ball well and when the opportunity presented itself, always took on his man.

Amad especially combined well with Kobbie Mainoo, who also got on the score sheet. It was Amad who provided the assist for Mainoo.

But it was the winger’s goal which grabbed the headlines. He walloped the ball home from a corner to restore United’s lead soon after Newcastle had restored parity through Anthony Gordon.

After struggling for minutes earlier in the campaign, it now seems like Amad has convinced Ten Hag about his abilities and what he can bring to the table.

Ten Hag has now started the winger in back-to-back games and the player has repaid the manager’s faith in kind.

Amad spoke to reporters after the game and revealed that he has been waiting for his chance and it certainly hasn’t come easy and hasn’t been handed to him on a silver platter.

The 21-year-old said, “Today the team was motivated to play this game and I could see my teammates fighting for everyone. We are happy to win the last game at home.”

“It is my first goal in the Premier League for #mufc, and I hope to score more.”

“I am happy for myself. In the first half, I tried to do the same and I didn’t score so when I had the second chance I thought ‘Why not?'”

Amad added, “I have worked hard for this moment. This season hasn’t been easy for me as I got injured in pre-season.”

“But scoring this goal in the last home game is a big feeling for me. I was waiting for a long time for the first start but I’ve gone step by step.”

Amad has now likely played himself into starting against Brighton this weekend and even possibly in the FA Cup final at Wembley a week later.
