Centre back Wesley Fofana has reacted to the awful news that his defensive partner Levi Colwill will be out injured for the long term.

Fofana of course knows a lot about being injured long term, because he has barely managed to sustain any real period of being fit and playing for Chelsea since he joined the club, he’s mainly had to stay on the sidelines recovering from serious injuries himself.

But the news of Colwill’s injury that broke yesterday shocked Chelsea fans and his team mates alike in what will come as a huge blow across the board.

Astonishingly, in what would be a HUGE mistake, Chelsea are apparently not even planning to replace Colwill by bringing in a new centre back this window.

Colwill is going to leave a massive gap in that Chelsea defence, a defence that many of us have not been entirely convinced by for some time really and this will not help those concerns.

As you can see in his post above that he put out on Instagram yesterday, Wesley Fofana says it’s going to be a long road back for Colwill.

It’s a very heartfelt post from someone who knows exactly how Colwill will be feeling right now and you can tell that it has hit his team mates just as hard as it will be hitting him and the club as well.

Colwill has been colossal

Chelsea had a strong end to the season and Levi Colwill was a massive part of that, putting in some coloosal and consistent performances in the second half of the season.

He will be a huge loss for Chelsea if as expected, he does now miss the majority of the season.
