Real Madrid’s most crucial endeavour of the season edges closer as they gear up to take Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League final.

Emotions are sure to be running high not only because of the monumental occasion; but also because a certain Toni Kroos will be playing his final game in the royal white jersey.

The German will be parting ways after enjoying 10 trophy-filled seasons and will aim to add another to his illustrious cabinet before he travels to Germany for the Euros in what will officially be his last rodeo in professional football.

Now, speaking in the build-up to the grand showdown with Borussia, Kroos has given his two cents on the team’s preparation and the morale inside the locker room.

On the upcoming Champions League final

Kroos acknowledged it felt incredible to play his sixth final for the Merengues, but claimed none of this success would have been possible without the efforts of a cohesive team.

“My sixth final? It’s a beautiful thing. I was lucky to play for a team that was able to achieve these successes.

“I am part of this, but I do not like to be alone, there is always the team. Without a team, it is impossible to do this,” Kroos remarked during an interview with RMTV.

Additionally, the German midfielder argued that Real Madrid were in high spirits today and they have the potential to surprise people.

“Today I saw everyone enjoying and looking forward to. The final is on Saturday. There is a competitor that may surprise some people.”

Furthermore, Kroos is eager to close his Real Madrid career on a high and claims this will be his last effort before riding off into the sunset.

“This will be my last effort for Real Madrid. Hala Madrid,” he exclaimed.

On his farewell game

Kroos played his final game at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Betis recently, and his emotional substitution in the 86th minute marked a poignant farewell.

As Kroos came off the pitch, he confessed that seeing his daughter cry was a difficult pill to swallow and he will carry these special moments till the very end.

“I tried not to cry on Saturday but when I saw my daughter cry it changed. It was very difficult for me. I will never forget these moments. I will remember forever, my children and my wife too,” he said.

The 34-year-old also mentioned that whenever he feels like experiencing a tear-jerker, he will take a trip down memory lane by looking at the farewell pictures.

“Saturday was the night of a lifetime. If one day at home I want to cry, I will look at the farewell pictures.”
