Federico Dimarco expects to have to wait until tomorrow to check his fitness after today’s clash between Napoli and Inter Milan.
The Italian international spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews.
It was something of an evening of mixed emotions for Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco.
In the first half of today’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash with Napoli, the 27-year-old scored the opener. He did so with a spectacular free kick.
However, in the second half, Dimarco had to come off with an injury.
The Italian international only made it a few minutes into the half. He went down holding his right thigh, with initial reports indicating that the problem was a contracture to the thigh flexor muscle.
After the match, Federico Dimarco admitted that “I wouldn’t mind feeling better.”
“But right now I’d struggle to say anything about it,” he added.

Asked if the problem was with his thigh flexor, Dimarco confirmed “yes.”
“We’ll see tomorrow,” the 27-year-old said.
“Already halfway through the first half I was feeling something. I tried to come back onto the pitch in the second half, but I couldn’t run it off.”
“It continued to bother me,” Dimarco said. “So I didn’t want to make things worse.”
Meanwhile, Dimarco talked about his opening goal as well. “It was a great goal,” he said.
“I’d have liked to celebrate it with a win. But it’s ok.”
“I’m happy that it’s the first left-footed free kick to be scored here since the stadium was renamed to the Maradona,” Dimarco noted. “But let’s not worry about comparisons.”
Dimarco added that Inter “need to remain calm and keep working.”
“There are still a lot of matches to go,” the Italian international said.
“We have to get to the end of a fight that everyone’s in. Atalanta and Juventus are also in it.”
